Alprazolam

Alprazolam is a potent medication intended for the treatment of panic attacks and certain anxiety disorders. It should be taken as prescribed and for as long as prescribed by your health care provider. This drug can come in two different forms – a tablet and concentrated solution supposed to be taken by mouth. If you have been prescribed the liquid form of this medicine it's important to use a special dropper to get the right amount of medication. Taking even a little bit more can worsen some of the side effects and will not make the treatment more effective. Make sure you discuss with your doctor all the risks and benefits of the treatment to make sure you will benefit fro taking alprazolam. It's very important to report to your health care provider any allergies that you have, especially if you are allergic to quazepam, triazolam, flurazepam, clonazepam, oxazepam, chlordiazepoxide, lorazepam, estazolam, prazepam, temazepam, diazepam, alprazolam, halazepam and clorazepate. Do not start taking any new medicines while on alprazolam and it you are taking any of the following ones tat the moment of asking for prescription, please let your health care provider know about it: sleeping pills, antifungals, clarithromycin, paroxetine, tranquilizers, medications for mental illness, sedatives, cyclosporine, erythromycin, fluconazole, antidepressants, amiodarone, isoniazid, seizure medications, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, sertraline, ergotamine, cimetidine, and oral contraceptives (such as birth control pills).

Alprazolam has been reported to cause drowsiness. It's very important that you avoid taking part in any activities that require you to be alert and concentrated. This way you may be putting at risk your life and those of other people. If you get any mild side effects they do not need to be treated using any other drugs, either prescription or over-the-counter kinds. Instead, just wait for these side effects to go away, as in most cases this is what happens. The following mild side effects are possible, although it's hard to predict their occurrence in every individual: dry mouth, dizziness, irritability, weight changes, impotence, changes in appetite, lightheadedness, trouble urinating, changes in sex drive, tiredness, and drowsiness. The following are the most typical symptoms of an overdose: problems with coordination, coma, drowsiness, and confusion. They need to be reported to your local emergency center as soon as possible to make sure you are helped.
